David F. Lovinger, MD, FHM, is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine, and Division Chief of Hospital Medicine, NorthShore University Health System, both in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Lovinger is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine. His administrative responsibilities at NorthShore include seats on the Medical Group Performance Improvement Committee, EPIC Physician's Advisory Committee, and Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee.
Dr. Lovinger's academic background includes a BA degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, a BFA degree from University of Michigan Ann Arbor, and an MFA degree from the Rinehart School of Sculpture, Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore. He received his medical degree from Pritzker School of Medicine at University of Chicago and completed his Internal Medicine residency and fellowship training at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Lovinger is a member of the American Medical Informatics Association and the Society of General Internal Medicine. His current research interests include evaluating the impact of NorthShore University Health System's revised VTE prophylaxis algorithm and the effects of pharmacogenetic dosing and standard anticoagulation management. Dr. Lovinger updates other hospitalists regularly on the role of technology in health care, anticoagulation agents, and VTE. His work appears in Journal of General Internal Medicine, The Hospitalist, and Quality and Safety in Health Care.
